From beginner to high school Kennedale Bands finish on a high Note!

James A Arthur – 14th year for top scores ?
 
The James A Arthur Intermediate School Beginner Band competed in the Sandy Lake Amusement Park Competition in April and Received Straight Ones from the Judges. This makes 14 years of First Divisions received by the Beginner Band. This year there were over 120 6th grade students in this group.
 
KJHS ? Superior & Excellent ?
 
The Kennedale Junior High School Bands had an outstanding showing at their competitions in April.
  • The Concert Band, under the direction of Benjamin Brown, competed in the UIL Concert and Sight-reading Contest and received a First Division Superior Rating on stage Second Division Excellent Rating in sight-reading.
  • The Symphonic Band, under the direction of Eleanor Macias, received a First Division Superior Rating on stage Second Division Excellent Rating in sight-reading.
  • The Honor?s Band, under the direction of Benjamin Brown, received a ?Straight Ones? First Division Superior at the contest.

Both the JH Symphonic and JH Honors Bands competed in the ?Beach Within Reach? band festival as well. There, both the Kennedale groups received a ?Straight Ones? First Division at the contest.

 
KHS 10th year for Sweepstakes Award ?
 
The Kennedale High School Bands finished the year with top honors from UIL.
 
At the UIL Concert and Sight-reading Contest, held in Stephenville this year,
  • The Concert Band, under the direction of DiMitri Higginbotham, received a First Division in sight-reading and a Second Division on stage for their performance.
  • The Symphonic Band, Under the Direction of Erol Oktay, received a First Division Rating from the judges on both their stage and sight-reading performance.

With the First Divisions from the Symphonic Band, this earned the Wildcat Band Program the UIL Sweepstakes Award (UIL Highest Award for Band) for the tenth year.

 

Workshops at Disney in Orlando ?

 
The High School Band is recently returned from their spring band trip to Orlando, Florida. There they participated in a Disney World music workshop on Disney property with a nationally known trumpet artist and conductor, and also performed music from several Walt Disney theatrical productions. While in Orlando, the group also enjoyed several days at the local entertainment areas such as Walt Disney World and Universal Studios.
