This most often sets up huge mismatches between the 1st and 4th seeds, leaving the middle games the most interesting and the other two games played as warm-ups.

As an example, Kennedale (32-7, 12-0) is the #1 seed out of District 9-4A followed by Benbrook, Lake Worth and Castleberry. Dallas Faith Family is the 4th seed from District 10-4A and therefore gets the draw with Kennedale. The top seed from District 10-4A is Carrollton Ranchview (23-12, 8-0) and will play Castleberry (7-21, 5-7).

Faith Family is a charter school located within the Dallas ISD but not part of the ISD. Its draw is students from across Dallas and surrounding cities. In sports, Faith Family is more widely known for basketball as the boys team competed in the state final four in Austin last year and came home with the 4A title.

The winner of the Kennedale/Dallas Faith game will play the winner of the Dallas Wilmer-Hutchins/Melissa game. Wilmer Hutchins (15-7, 10-2) is the 2nd seed from District 12/4A and Melissa (31-11, 7-3) is a 3rd seed from the very competitive District 11-4A.

The Lady Kats had a successful warm-up game on Friday evening against 5A Lake Dallas, playing at Lake Dallas. Kennedale won 3-1, losing in the second set 20-25 but rebounding to take the next two in this closely fought match-up (25-22, 20-25, 26-24, 25-24).

Lake Dallas (23-18, 8-4) finished in 3rd place in District 7-5A behind Denton (34-9, 12-0) and Northwest (20-14, 9-3)

For the match, Maddie Pyles (SO) had 23 kills with a hitting % of 333. Casey Guerry (SO) led in aces along with Taylor Poore (SO) with 3 apiece. Alexandria Youngblood (FR) finished with 4 blocks while Tatum Pavey (JR) led the Lady Kats with 31 digs. In total assist, it was Gracyn Reed (SO) with 24, closely followed by Lillian Rychlik (SR) with 23.
