It is no use trying to play down the fact that Kennedale is up against one of the top teams in Class 4A. The Lady Farmers are 42-1. The Texas Girls Coaches Association has had Farmersville ranked #1 all season. MaxPreps has them ranked #9 but still in the top ten.? {{more: continue …}}

The Farmers swept District 13/4A with a 10-0 record, beating out Community who finished with an overall record of 35-8, 8-2. Community made it to the third round last week before losing out to Bullard 3-1.

Farmersville’s lone loss came against 2A Lindsay who is now also in the fourth round of the UIL 2A playoffs That loss also came at the beginning of the season.

Kennedale’s journey to the upper levels of the state tournament is one of challenges. Look beyond the 7 losses and examine the record.

Kennedale?s pre-district schedule was almost exclusively against upper divisional teams They have played twenty different 5A or 6A teams, sometimes more than once, and leaving 14 of those teams in their wake.

Kennedale beat 6A DeSoto, 6A South Grand Prairie (2x), 6A Wylie, 6A Longview, 6A DeSoto, 5A Arlington Heights, 5A Lancaster, 5A Cleburne (4x), 5A Turner, 5A Wichita Falls Rider, 5A Colony, 5A Frisco Heritage, 5A Mansfield Legacy and 5A Lake Dallas. Kennedale did lose to 6A San Angleo Central, 6A Duncanville, 5A McKinney, 5A Burleson, 6A Mansfield, 5A Boswell and 5A Lake Dallas (split games).

On the other hand, Farmersville?s pre-district schedule was largely against 2A and 3A teams. Fourteen opponents were from lower divisional teams. Four were from Class 4A and three were 5A teams. There were no 6A teams on the schedule.

Kennedale will not likely be intimidated ?

There are two take-aways. The first is that the Kennedale team has played as the underdog in most of its games this season. The game against Farmersville will not be any different. The second take away, Kennedale also swept their district with a 12-0 record and like Farmersville enters the game as never having lost to a 4A team.

Playoffs records ?

In the playoffs this year, Farmersville defeated 4th seed Brownsboro (23-17) by 3-0, 2nd seed Kilgore (20-13) by 3-1, and 3rd seed Gilmer (19-17) by 3-1.

Kennedale road to the region semi-finals was through 4th seed Oak Cliff Family by 3-0, 3rd seed Melissa (32-12) by 3-2 and 1st seed Ranchview (26-13) by 3-0.

Kennedale and Farmerville do share the fact they are both teams that are on the young side. Farmersville list three seniors on their roster plus 6 juniors and four sophomores. Kennedale has 2 seniors, 6 juniors, 6 sophomores, and 1 freshman.

This year?s team for both Farmersville and Kennedale are no strangers to the playoffs. In 2018, Farmersville made it to 4th round before losing to Sanger. The year before, Farmersville made it to the third round.

Kennedale made it to the third round last year and was ironically eliminated by the same team that defeated Farmersville, Sanger. Two years ago, 2nd seed Kennedale made it to the second round before dropping the match to 1st seed Graham.
