Two overnight residential fires in Arlington prompted the Arlington Fire Department to issue a warning in a press release. {{more:Read more …}}
 
The first fire was reported at 8:39 Tuesday evening at a residence in West Arlington and the second was at 1:23 am at an apartment complex in North Arlington.
 
The house fire was controlled within 12 minutes with no injuries but the damaged was estimated at $132,570. The apartment fire was on the first floor of a two story apartment building. Two adults were listed with injury and transported to area hospital. Eleven individuals were displaced as a result of the fire.
 
In the first fire, a cause has not been determined but the other fire was linked to an unattended candle. The Arlington Fire Department urges citizens to have working smoke alarms and an escape route for their family. And, to blow out candles before you go to bed, and keep them 12 inches away from anything that could burn.
 

The National Fire Protection Association reports that an average of 25 home candle fires are reported each day in the United States.
