Before you rush to google it, ?orinthlogy? is the study and identification of birds. This time of the year there are still a number of birds in the area or flying through, and they are a lot easier to see without the cover of leaves.
 
The City of Kennedale is hosting a workshop for beginners or anyone else who would like to come on bird identification. It will be led by local ornithologist Erin Hatchett. {{more}}
 
The workshop will provide hands-on instruction, including: – an introduction to binoculars and how to focus the binoculars on birds – a presentation on bird anatomy as it pertains to field identification – field marks of birds common to this region – basic ecology, habitat associations, and behaviors to assist in identification.
 
Following instruction in City Hall, participants will go to Sonora Park to practice using what they have just learned. The workshop is expected to last approximately two hours, including the trip to the nature preserve.
