A mosquito sample tested positive for West Nile Virus in Tarrant County, Tarrant County Public Health confirmed Friday, according to Kaley Johnson of the Star Telegram in an article published on Saturday. {{more: continue …}}

The sample was from the area around Westridge road in unincorporated Southwest Tarrant County, a news release stated.

Out of about 4,000 mosquito samples at the department?s regional laboratory, 200 have tested positive for West Nile Virus. [In this area test have come back positive twice in Kennedale and once in Everman, 4 in Mansfield and 40 in Arlington]

The positive tests have been in the following areas: Arlington (40), Bedford (8), Benbrook (1), Colleyville (22), Crowley (1), Euless (8), Everman (1), Fort Worth (30), Grand Prairie (2), Grapevine (8), Haltom City (5), Haslet (1), Hurst (6), Keller (4), Kennedale (2), Lake Worth (1), Mansfield (4), North Richland Hills (25), Pantego (7), Richland Hills (7), Southlake (10), Unincorporated (5) and Watauga (2).

The Public Health Department said in the release people should use insect repellent, dress in long sleeves and pants and dump standing water from their property.
