Cats on a 27 district game win streak
 
The MaxPreps #13 Kennedale Wildcats (6-3, 4-0) will travel to Lake Worth tonight to take on the fighting Frogs (3-6, 2-2) in the final game of the regular season. Playoffs start next week. {{more:Read more …}}
 
With the playoffs starting next week, both Kennedale and Lake Worth have earned a playoff berth. For Kennedale, a win tonight will cinch their 5th consecutive sweep of district opponents. Kennedale has not lost a district game since October 14, 2011, a streak of 27 straight district games.
 
The Bullfrogs, who returned nine players on offense and eight on defense from a team a 4-7 team, owns wins this year over 3A Boyd 48-21, Castleberry 48-13 and Diamond Hill 67-0. They are averaging per game 64 yards passing and 226 yard rushing per game this year. They are coming off a 47-21 loss to Springtown in Springtown.
 
Lake Worth was hoping to have a better season this year with 17 returners but as one of the smallest schools in 4A D1, it has had a grinding schedule that as included strong football programs from Godley, Melissa, Krum and Glen Rose besides the top three in this district, Kennedale, Mineral Wells and Springtown. Head Coach Keri Timmerman is in his second year.
 
Castleberry win round-up …
 
Last week, Kennedale crushed a seriously outmanned Castleberry team (1-8, 1-3) 72-0 in a 5-4A district game. The Cats, despite racking up 91 yards in penalties, had no trouble scoring on the Lions. Kennedale had 481 total yards to minus 16 for Castleberry for the game with 37 by air and 444 on the ground.
 
Jaden Knowles (Jr) had a special night with 3 TDs with one of those on special teams by running back a blocked Castleberry punt. Knowles finished with 10 carries 134 yards. DJ Kirven (So) kicked in 3 TDs off of 123 yards on just 6 carries a 20.3 yard average. David Roper (Jr) 17 yards, 2 TDs. Braelin Brown (Jr) 92 yards, 1 TD. Aaron Rinehart (Sr) 1 Td on QB sneak and Evan Jowers (So) 48 yards. Jowers also went 3-6 for 37 yards passing. In receiving yards, Malik Burgess had 1 for 16 yards, Jaden Smith (So) 1 for 1 yard and Tyler Alphin 1 for 20 yards.
 
On defense, Baron Browning Sr) had 1 sack, a blocked punt out of the end zone for a safety and 6 tackles. Kevin Tiero (Jr) lead the team with 8 tackles. Aaron Williams (Sr) recovered a fumble, had two tackles for losses in his seven tackles. Joseph Vaughn (Sr) had 4 tackles for losses. Gjemar Daniels (Sr) finished with 5 tackles with 2 for losses including 1 sack. Ector Rivera (Jr) had one interception with 3 tackles. Sophomore Devan Mason blocked the punt that led to Knowles TD returned.
