James will be missed by everyone he came into contact with.
Survivors: He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joy; children, J.J. and husband, Frank, Tim and wife, Candy, and Judy; grandchildren, Tiffany and husband, Kirk, Nichelle and husband, Eric, Melody and husband, Tom, Kassey and husband, Daniel, James Avery II, and Brooklynn; great-grandchildren, Greyson, Ella Kay, Presley, Kai and Acacia.
