Two weeks ago, Kennedale held the 2018 Homecoming celebrations during halftime of the Kennedale- Lake Worth game. It was a steady rain right up to halftime when it slowed to an on and off again drizzle, but that did now stop the activities. {{more: continue …}}

The Kennedale High School Marching Wildcat Band was resourceful as ever marched on the field in their rain gear with protected instruments and, in some cases, second hand instruments to provide the music.

The KHS Homecoming Court along with the Alumni Coming Home (Outgoing and Incoming) Queens were introduced.? The following presentations were made.

2018 Coming Home Queen Diana Waldrop

The 2018 Alumni Coming Home Queen was Mrs. Diana Waldrop Burns. She was escorted by her husband Larry Burns and her grandson Cole. Flowers and a tiara were presented to Diana by the 2017 KHS Alumni Coming Home Queen Mrs. Lisa Biondi Greenfield.

Diana attended Kennedale Schools, 1st through 12th grade. She graduated in the KHS Class of 1973. She was involved in four years of pep squad and Future Homemakers of America. She was in the National Honors Society for two years and participated in the Miss Kennedale Beauty Pageant for four years, earning a 1st and 3rd place. She was also voted Ranch Day Queen her junior year.

Diana served as class officer, was elected to the student council and was a member of the drama club, as well as, being a student teacher assistant.

Diana is retired from Lockheed Martin Aerospace Industries, where she was a logistics release analyst for 30 years. She is a fulltime mom, raising her grandson Cole from 9 months old to the present who is now a 17 year old senior at Joshua High School. She and her husband of 27 years live in Joshua along with Cole. She has 2 stepchildren, 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

KHS 2018 Queen Miss Jordan Willingham – She is the daughter of Kristi and Daniel Willingham. Jordan was escorted by her father. Jordan, a senior at KHS is a member of the National Honor Society and is the senior class secretary. She is a two time golf regional qualifier for KHS as well as a three year varsity Wildcat cheerleader where is currently serving as the cheer co-captain. The teacher that inspires her the most is Mr. Chriss Burke because he influenced her decision to become a nurse and pursue a career helping others.? Jordan plans to attend Stephen F Austin to pursue a Batchelor of Science in nursing.

KHS 201 King Mr. Leland Murphy ? He is the son of Dale Murphy and Leslie Rives. He was escorted by his mother. Leland, a senior at KHS, serves as the KHS Student Council president, senior class vice-president and as chair of the City of Kennedale Youth Advisory Council. He is a member of the National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, Spanish Club, Theatre Club and the Green Club. Leland is currently ranked in the top 2% of his class. The teachers that inspires Leland the most is Maestra Monica Stephens?(KHS)because she is so kind, Coach Paul Trantham?(KHS) for encouraging his interest in what he plans to pursue as a career and Senor Roger Aleman for helping him in developing his leadership skills.? Leland plans to attend college, earning a pre-law degree followed by law school.

Queen Nominee Grace Guadagnolo ? Grace is the daughter of Mike and Jackie Guadagnolo. She was escorted by her father.? Grace has been a member of the KHS Lady Kat Varsity volleyball team all four years and a member of PAL (Peer Assistance Leadership). The teacher that inspires her the most is Mrs. Julia Naughton because she inspires everyday with her caring heart, work ethic, and understanding. Grace says she is a better person because of her guidance.? Grace plans to enlist in the U.S. military after graduation.

Queen Nominee Miss Trinitee Warren –?Trinitee is the daughter of Demtrice Brooks and Derrick Warren and wa escorted by her father.? Trinitee? is a member of the KHS Lady Kat Basketball varsity basketball team, the Key Club and PAL.? The teacher that inspires her the most is Mrs. Julie Naughton?(KHS) for always being kind to others. Trinitee plans to attend college to earn a business degree with a focus on Human Resource Management.

King Nominee Mr. DJ Kirven ? He is the son of Mrs. Scott and was escorted on the field by his grandmother, Vickie Scott. DJ is a member of the KHS Wildcat football team and has been named twice as an All-State selection, All-Area and 1st Team All-District in his sophomore and junior year. He also served on the KHS Student Council. The teacher that inspires him the most is Coach Aaron Wingfield?(KHS) for always pushing him to better himself on and off the field. He plans to play football at the University of North Texas.

King Nominee Mr. Jaden Smith – Jaden in the son of Shaneika Smith and Marcus Bryant. He was escorted by his mother. Jaden has been named 1st Team All-District in football and basketball. In addition he has also been named as an All District Basketball Newcomer of the Year and a Defensive MVP in his junior year. The teacher that has inspired him the most is Coach Jay Beck?(KHS) for constantly teaching him on and off the field for the past 4 years but he also thanks all of his teachers/coaches for everything they have done for him. Jaden plans to attend Montana State University to major in Business and Entrepreneurship while playing football.

Princess Miss Kayla Guevara ? She is the daughter of Martin and Sabastiana Guevara. Kayla has been a class officer the past 3 years and is currently serving as junior class vice president. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Art Club, Student Council and Key Club. She is serving as a Green Club officer and on the City of Kennedale Youth Advisory Council. She is also a student basketball manager and it ranked in the top 10% of her class. The teacher that inspires her the most is Mr. Roger Aleman (KHS) because he is passionate and hard-working and influences her to be the same.

Prince Mr. Blake Taylor ? Blake is the son of Bill and Lisa Taylor. He is a two year varsity player on the KHS basketball and baseball teams. He is currently ranked in the top 10% of his class. The teacher that inspires him the most is Coach Matt Munson (KHS) because he has taught him many lessons, both in and out of school and motivates him to improve both on and off the court each and every day.

Duchess Miss Victoria Sampaio –?She is the daughter of Susan Tovar and Paulo Sampaio. Victoria is a member of the KHS Spanish Club and an elected member of the KHS Student Council. The teacher that inspires her the most is Mrs. Gabler because she always encouraged her to do her best.

Duke Mr. Christian Rockin –?He is the son of Linnette Garcia. He is a member of both the KHS soccer and KHS cross-country teams, an Ignite Kennedale leader and the KHS Spanish Club treasurer. He is currently 3rd in the sophomore class GPA rankings. The teacher that inspires him the most is Coach Joey Lucero (KHS) because he is a good role model and he cares for the well-being of his students.
