Kennedale entered three teams. The team of Simon Horn and Ethan Miller won the overall tournament with Simon also catching the big bass of the tournament, weighting in at 6.91 pounds. Horn and Miller combined to catch 4 bass with a combined weight of 15.32 pounds. There are three tournaments remaining on the THSBA trail with the next tourney being held February 20th on a lake to be announced, March 19th at Ray Roberts, and April 9th at Ray Hubbard.

The Texas High School Bass Association is divided into 4 divisions (East, West, Central and Houston). There is no differential between sizes of schools but tournaments consider the catch of only three teams from each school although a large school may have as many as 14 teams.

Wilcox, who started an outdoor education club in 2012 at Kennedale High School, is an outdoor sports advocate. He developed the first outdoor education classes at Kennedale last year where students can earn a P.E. or an elective credit. He teaches along with P.E. teachers/coaches Katrina Patel and Alton Widemon. He also sponsors the Kennedale High School ACE Archery team.

Students who become members of the archery and fishing team do so for the challenge and the fun but they have to maintain their grades (no pass, no play). For the KHS Bass Fishing team member, the requirements are to maintain passing grades, have access to a fishing boat and a parent who is willing to act as boat captain during the tournament.

?With this win, the Kennedale team should jump up into the top 5 teams in the region in the team of the year standings, said Wilcox on a post. He added, ?Simon Horn and Ethan Miller should be in the top 10 for angler of the year awards as well.?
