Chance Bishop, a 2015 high school 6’6, 300 pound offensive lineman, committed to UTEP today. {{more}}

The offensive line athlete is from Kennedale, Texas and was a Class 4A All-State Honorable Mention this past season, and was apart of a 12-1 Kennedale team as a senior year in 2014, including an undefeated regular season and a trip to the third round of the Class 4A Texas state playoffs.

He played mostly tight end/sixth blocker this season in a run heavy offense, and had four catches for 135 yards, and two touchdowns this season. He is athletic enough to play guard or tackle, though I would project him as a tackle at UTEP as he sealed off edges for his team to average 425.6 rushing yards per game this past season.

Grounded in run blocking during his high school career, Bishop’s team only attempted 45 passes this past season, and amassed over 5,000 yards rushing on the season, crazy to see numbers like that in the age of spread offense in high school football.

Bishop was one of five recruits to visit El Paso this weekend and was hosted by UTEP’s starting guard Derek Elmendorrf, he had an offer from North Texas and East Carolina, and was also named First Team All-District 6-3A a year ago with a First Team All-District Honor this season as well.
