KHS Cheer Team 13th in state finals

For the second year in a row the Kennedale High School Cheer Team made into the finals of the UIL State Cheer Championship. The competition was held last week in Dallas. {{more:Read more …}}
 
This is only the second year that the University Scholastic League (UIL) has conducted the competition.
 
80 teams in the competition …
 

Out of the 80 teams in the competition, Kennedale scored 210 points to earn a berth in the final round of competition at 15th place. The team was then able to move up two places in the finals to finish at 13th overall.

 
Winning the 4A title was Texarkana Pleasant Grove with 93.35 points. From this North Texas area Argyle finished 10th with 86.1 points, Melissa 12th with 84.65, Kennedale was 13th with 82.85, Midlothian Heritage was 16th with 80.06 and Castleberry was 17th with 79.7 points.
 
The Kennedale UIL team consisted of 20 members Yordee Brown (Jr), Mileyshka Colon (So), Mady Hamblin (Jr), Reagan Hamblin (Fr), Jordyn Harrison (So), Emily Marr (Jr), Rachel Prebe (So), Co-Captain Paloma Rivera (Sr), Kolbi Sipho (So), Haley Sloat (Jr), Tiara Taylor (Jr), Captain Avery Tosh (Sr), Aliviyah Ward (So), Jordan Willingham (So), Sarah Wyckoff (So), Gwynith Camp (Jr), Peyton Malone (Fr), Joy Sikes (Fr), Hailey Vinson (So) and Jade Williams (Fr).
 
NCA nationals this week …
 
This coming weekend the KHS Cheerleaders will be competing in the National Cheerleading Association National Competition.
 

?Our National team only has 12 members,? Cheer Head Coach Barbara Johnston told the Kennedale News. ?The National team will compete at the NCA High School National Championship at the Dallas Convention Center this Saturday and Sunday. Prelims are on Saturday and Finals will be on Sunday.”

 
This competition is different in routines and difficulty and the competition will be a higher level. ?They are competing against teams from across the nation from 5 and 6A sized schools,? said Johnston.
 

The National team is composed of Mady Hamblin (Jr), Reagan Hamblin (Fr), Jordyn Harrison (So), Emily Marr (Jr), Co-Captain Paloma Rivera (Sr), Kolbi Sipho (So), Haley Sloat (Jr), Tiara Taylor (Jr), Co-Captain Avery Tosh (Sr), Aliviyah Ward (So), Jordan Willingham (So), Joy Williams (Fr) and Alternate Rachel Prebe (So).

 
Kennedale has participated in this annual event for several years.
