Twelve athletes trained for seven months for an action packed routine that only lasted 2 ? minutes. There were no quarters, tournaments or second tries. There is nothing separating a 5A school from a 3A school. One week prior to competition, they encountered a serious injury which took one of their athletes out for what they thought may be a very long time. They brought in an alternate who stepped up and learned all of the choreography and stunts in less than a week knowing she may never get to step on the mat. One day prior to completion, the original athlete was released and was able to compete with the team. Without the alternate stepping in, the week would have been devastating. This team turned in to thirteen and exhibited the true meaning of TEAMWORK! The KHS Cheerleaders encountered so many challenges along the way, but overcame every one of them with determination and amazing teamwork.
