KHS Choir Members make 3rd Round of State Competition

The Kennedale Choir has been busy this fall auditioning for All-District, All-Region and All-State Choirs and has made a strong showing in the annual UIL contests. {{more}}
 
In a highly competitive field, 10 out of 14 KHS Choir members advanced into the second round of All-region auditions on September 19 and then on October 10, 4 of those have made into the 3rd and final round of competition in November.
 
For the purpose of UIL Music Competition the state is divided into 28 geographical regions. Region alignment is determined based on a combination of geographic and population factors. Kennedale is in region 7-4A. The 10 members of the region are Stephenville, Alvarado, Kennedale, Diamond Hill, Castleberry, Brownwood, Springtown, Venus, Llano and Godley. All-Region choir has approximately 72 students as well as the All-District choir has 72.
 
To make the various choir selections, there are four levels of auditions.

Choir audition in UIL Competition and 10 made it into the second round

The following students advanced in the first round of competition: 1st Chair, Bass 2: Noah Wyckoff, 3rd Chair, Bass 2: Lane Hubenak, 7th Chair, Bass 2: William Badger, 3rd Chair, Bass 1: Brian Gomes, 4th Chair, Bass 1: Richard Bui, 11th Chair, Bass 1: EJ Knight, 3rd Chair, Soprano 2: Leanne Blind, 5th Chair, Soprano 2: Julissa Mireles, and making it as 1st alternates were Yadira Frias and Haylee Schofield.
 
In the 2nd round of audition, four students were selected for the All-Region Choir and another as a first alternate. The four will also advance to the 3rd round that will be held November 21st at Burleson High School. Making the cut were Leanne Blind, 1st chair, Soprano 2 Brian Gomes, 2nd Chair, Bass 1 Richard Bui, 3rd Chair, Bass 1 Noah Wyckoff, 3rd Chair, Bass 2 Lane Hubenak, 5th Chair, Bass 2 – Lane is first alternate to the All-Region Choir and will be singing in the All-District choir next month
 
The fourth and final round of competition will be in January. Last year KHS had one student to make the final round of auditions at the state level.
