These athletes who started their season in the heat of summer near the end of July, wrapped it up by running in the UIL Region Meet in Lubbock in late October.

There were a number of meets before, including the District 7-4A Cross Country Meet, which Kennedale hosted at Veterans Park in Arlington.
At the district meet, the Varsity boys ran 3.1 miles and finished 2nd with Cameron Christoforo placing 6th overall with a time of 17:59. The JV boys finished 1st with Jordan Washington placing 1st overall with a time of 19:10.
The Varsity girls placed 2nd. Jamie Najar placed 3rd overall with a time of 12:32 for the 2 mile course. The JV girls finished 2nd with Lauren Duran placing 2nd overall with a time of 14:24.
Both the Varsity teams qualified for the Region II meet in Lubbock, Texas, competing against the top athletes within the region.
At the Region Meet, Jamie Najar, finished 23rd overall with a time of 12:31 for the 2 mile course. Pytel said that, “Jamie has improved tremendously by shaving her overall time little by little each and every time she stepped foot onto the next course.”
Jamie finished as the 11th individual in the Regional XC Meet where she missed qualifying for State by 3 seconds and 1 spot with only the top 10 qualifying for State.
The teams were coached this year by Katrina Pytel, physical education teacher and Michael Strange, physics teacher.

Coach Pytel said, “We are so proud of each and every one of these athletes as they love to do what others don’t…RUN! I can’t wait to see what next year has in store for the Cross Country teams but one goal remains…Qualifying for State!!”
