The Kennedale soccer program visited Stephenville last Friday night and came home with a win by the Wildcats and an unexpected loss by the LadyKats. {{more}}
 
WILDCAT SOCCER UPDATE
 
The Kennedale Wildcats (5-4-1) played the early match on Friday with the YellowJackets (3-5-1) and came away with a 1-0 victory.
 
The Wildcats have showed improve play on defense and offense this year. Of four losses two have been by 1 point and the other two by just 2 points. The Cats are on the plus side on scoring with 19 points to their opponents combined score 17.
 
In addition to the Stephenville win, the Wildcats in pre-district play have victories over China Springs (4-3), Pittsburg (2-1), Mexia 4-1 and Wichita Falls Hirschi (4-2) and a tie against Ferris (2-2). The Wildcats losses have come against 5A Greenville (1-0), Anna (1-0), Texarkana
Pleasant Grove (3-1) and Paris (3-1).
 
This week the Wildcats play the top ranked Argyle Eagles on Tuesday at 6 p.m. and on Friday at 7:30 p.m. they will face off against Melissa. Both games are at home in Wildcat Stadium.
 
The Wildcats are coached by Head Coach Michael Strange and JV Coach George Griffin.
 
LADYKAT SOCCER UPDATE
 
In the varsity double header last Friday night, the Kennedale LadyKats were upset by the Stephenville Honey Bees, 4-0.
 
For Kennedale it was a shock, but even more so, because they were shut out in an offense that averaged 3.5 points per game. The LadyKats are usually on the other side with 7 of their 8 wins being shutouts.
 
The LadyKats, currently ranked as #2 in 4A by Maxpreps, will have to regroup this week with games against #9 Argyle (5-3-0) on Tuesday night and #3 Melissa (12-0-1) on Friday night. Melissa has been the surprise of the season. Unlike the other leaders in 4A girls soccer, this is Melissa first year in UIL soccer.
 
This week both the boys and girls programs will be on display at home. On Tuesday against Argyle, the Wildcats will play at 6 p.m. followed by the LadyKats at 7:30 p.m. and on Friday against Melissa the LadyKats will play at 6 p.m. and the Wildcats at 7:30p.m.
