KHS Wildcat Band Qualifies for Fifth UIL State Marching Band Championships

The Kennedale Wildcat Marching Band competed against twenty-two other UIL First Division 4A bands at the UIL Area D Marching Band Contest on Saturday, October 25th in Cedar Park, TX. The Wildcat Band ranked 1st place of all bands in both Preliminaries and Finals competition. {{more}}
 
As the first place qualifier, this is the band?s second time to hold the unofficial title of ?Area D Champions?. In 2008, the Wildcat Band also placed first at Area with the performance of their show, ?SERENGETI?.
 
This is the fifth consecutive time for Kennedale to qualify for the UIL State Marching Band Championships.
 
The Wildcat Band will now compete against the top twenty-one 4A bands in the state at the UIL State Marching Band Championships to be held at the Alamodome in San Antonio on Monday, November 3rd.

The Wildcat Band?s show this season is entitled, ?ARCTIC MAJESTY?, featuring the original music of John M. Meehan. Movements of the show are: 1) The North Wind, 2) Glaciers, 2) Polaris, 4) Aurora Borealis. Percussion parts are written and arranged by Michael Huestis and DiMitri Higginbotham. The marching drill design is by Jeffrey K. Barge.

The Drum Majors for the 147 member band are: Head Drum Major Zoe Langston, and Assistant Drum Majors Deja Caldwell and Alejandro Rivera.
 
The Drumline Captain is Morgan Biscoe. The Color Guard Captain is Emma Reed.
 
Band Directors are: Erol K. Oktay, DiMitri Higginbotham, Eleanor Babcock, and Benjamin Brown. Color Guard Instructor and Choreographer is Lacey McGowan.
 
The Kennedale Band Booster Club President is Julie Huggins.
