KHS Wildcat Football has its first All-American

This week the US Army All-American Bowl announced its roster for the 2017 game to be played Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Alamodrome in San Antonio, TX. It included Baron Browning, a senior at Kennedale High School. {{more:Read more … }}
 
Browning is one of just 90 players selected from across the country for the annual East vs West matchup game. He will be playing on the West team. US Army All-American Bowl
 
Browning , a linebacker for the Wildcats, has been one of the most highly recruited players in Kennedale history and as an uncommitted players, he is being courted by the likes of Texas, Texas A&M, Alabama, Ohio State, Notre Dame, just to name a few on a very long list. He had originally committed to Baylor but dropped that commitment shortly before Baylor?s football scandal broke.
 

With this selection, he has become Kennedale?s first All-American football player.

?Browning is an aggressive and productive linebacker who is strong and athletic enough to develop inside or out. He has the burst to chase down ball carriers anywhere on the field paired with speed and fluid hips to excel in pursuit and on the perimeter. Browning shows a high acumen for playing against the pass, which is rare for a linebacker with his size.? 247Sports

The U.S. Army All-American Bowl Selection Committee is comprised of 247 Sports, All American Games? and its regional scouting network. Every high school football senior is eligible for selection. The selection process kicks off at the U.S. Army National Combine and proceeds across the country during various combines, camps, and clinics. From millions of high school football players, the Selection Committee evaluates thousands of the Nation?s top prospects on an annual basis. Following the evaluation period, the Selection Committee officially nominates the Nation?s top 400 seniors to be considered for selection to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. From the nominees, players are selected and invited to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. The Selection Committee reserves the right to select players who were not nominated in the spring, if they are having an outstanding senior season. U.S. Army All-Americans must be in good standing with their schools and communities in order to be considered for selection.
 
Browning and the Wildcats are scheduled to play Whitehouse, a 5A high school in East Texas, tonight at Whitehouse High School. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
