The Kennedale High School Wildcat/Lady Kat powerlifting team traveled to Sunnyvalle High School (east of Dallas) for their first meet of the year and returned with the top prize. {{more: continue …}}

There were 17 teams entered into the boys meet, ranging from 3A to 6A schools. The girls division included 12 teams.?The Wildcats came in first finishing with 33 points, followed by Nevada Community with 24. Frisco Heritage 24, Bishop Lynch 21, South Garland 19, Royse City 18, Mesquite Poteet 14, Little Elm 12, Mabank 9 and Crandall rounded out the to 10 with 6 points.??The Lady Kats, taking
just 5 powerlifter, came in 7th place earning points when Erlyna Morgan
earned a 1st place in her division, Ruth Michel was 3rd
in division while Kehslin Henderson and Karen Pena both came in 4th in their respective
divisions. Rita Spiersan lifted enough in
her division to come in 7th.?
Kennedale Wildcat lifters Angel Rocco and Joe Cullum placed 2nd and 5th respectively in the 123lbs class. Tyler Aguilar took 2nd in the 148lbs class. Braxton Kediaev placed 2nd in the 165lb class. Luis Flores placed 2nd in the 181lbs class. Clay Hilton earned 9th place in the 198lbs class. Ricardo Pena and Cameron Hanna lifted their way to a 1st and 2nd place in the 220lbs class while David Fielder finished 14th in the same class. Hayden Hudson came in 4th in the 242lbs class while Cedric Harris and James Mantell finished seventh and ninth in the top weight class.

This was an open meet with various regions represented. Kennedale is in Region 6 Division 2. After this early meet, the Wildcats have five lifters that currently rank in the top 4 in their respective weight classes for their region ? Roco, Cullum, Kediaev, Pena and Hanna.?The Lady Kats finished with all with finishes in the top 10 in their region. Morgan currently sitsat #1, Mitchel 4th, Pena 5th, Henderson 7th and Spiersan 10th
? each in their respective divisions.
