ELROD’S BEEN THERE AND DONE THAT AT AN EARLY AGE

PERRIN ? To get to the prize, it helps to have someone who has been there and done that.

Such is the case of new Perrin Baseball Coach Hayden Elrod, who has tasted success in the form of a State Championship when he threw at Kennedale. It was the first sign of success for Elrod, who was named MVP of the State Tournament that year and closed out his four-year high school career on a high note.

His playing career would continue with appearances at the JUCO World Series while at Cisco College and then at the Division II World Series while at Angelo State. Elrod said while he has been blessed with success in baseball, it?s something he wants to pass on to his players.

?To be successful, you have to have a love of the game, a definite respect for the game as well as respect for each other as a team and teammates,? Elrod said. ?It?s something I want to show and bring to the players.?
