KISD Band programs earning accolades even in the summer

State quality performances by two district bands ?

 
The Kennedale High School and Kennedale Junior High band programs are still in competition albeit by recordings this summer and have reached the state level. {{more: Read More …}}
 
KISD Director of Bands, Erol Oktay announced earlier this month in a Facebook post that the Kennedale High School Wind Ensemble has advanced to the state finals in the Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB) Outstanding Performance Series.
 
In the Outstanding Performance Series, similar-sized bands (4A) from around the State of Texas submit recorded music. The pieces are judged first at the Region level. Top bands from each Region then advance to Area competition according to Oktay.
 
The KHS Wind Ensemble’s march selection, “Hands Across the Sea” by John Philip Sousa, won 1st Place at both the Region 5/30 and North Area competitions.

And Benjamin Brown, KJHS Band Director, announced that the Junior High Honor Band recordings of ?Host of Freedom? and ?Joy Revisited have moved to the state level also. As with the high school submission, the KJHS was 1st at area competition.

 
Brown said in a post, ?Congratulations to all members of the band, your dedication is what helped us get this far.?
 
Both bands? submission will be judged next week in San Antonio.
