“I chose to run for the KISD School Board to continue the betterment of the schools, the students, and the community. I feel that I will bring a broad perspective and objectivity to this position with no personal agenda. I am a commercial construction Project Manager and have extensive experience with multiple school districts in implementing design, construction, budget management and completion of school facilities. I have been very successful in the business environment and I attribute this success to my ability to work well as a team member to accomplish important tasks. It is a high priority for this district that we perform as a cohesive unit including board members, district personnel, staff, teachers and community members. One of our goals must be to be provide a quality education to all children in our community. Other goals I would like to see achieved include more career/technology courses offered at the high school, student safety at all of our campuses and continue a higher level of education for our students.”
?
“I will come to this esteemed position with an open mind and the objectivity necessary to perform all of the functions of a trustee. I am willing and eager to devote the time and energy that this community deserves in fulfilling my duties as a member of the KISD School Board. I would appreciate your vote for Place 5.”
?
“My district experience includes Delaney Dad?s Club President, PTA Honorary Life Member, PTA Volunteer, Camp Grady Spruce Chaperone, Junior High Booster Club Coordinator, Kennedale Educational Foundation Supporter and James F. Delaney Scholarship Committee.”

MARIA DOUGLAS:
?
“I have lived within the Kennedale ISD for the past 6 years. I have 5 children who have attended James F. Delaney Elementary, James A. Arthur Intermediate and the Kennedale Jr. High School. Our family has also hosted foreign exchange students who have attended Kennedale High School. Thus, my children have attended and we as a family, have subsequently been actively involved in 4/5 schools within the Kennedale school district. School board members serve as the connection between the community and the schools. With 5 kids currently within the school system, I am very involved in and invested in the success and progress of our school district. I am also willing to serve as that link to the voices of the community.”
?
“My family and I are very involved in our church community and I have previously served as a 3rd grade Sunday School teacher. While serving as a licensed foster family for 11 years, I served on the Texas Foster Family Association state board for 9 years. I served on this state board as both a legislative chairperson and a regional representative. I am currently the Treasurer for the James F. Delaney Elementary school PTA and will serve as a counselor for the Kennedale High School?s upcoming Wasted program. I have a long history of both community service and advocacy for children. I would like to continue to give back to my community by investing in what matters — our kids and their educational futures.”
?
“My goals if elected to serve on the Kennedale School Board would be to; represent the voice of the community, continue to enhance transparency, community understanding and involvement, be fiscally responsible by ensuring expenditures are in line with the district?s long and short term goals, and ensure principles come before personalities as we position EVERY child for academic success.”
