KPD Incident Reports for Sept 10 through 16, 2017

The Kennedale Police Department reported the following incidents for the week period of September 10 through September 16, 2017 including dangerous dog, DWI, possession of controlled substance and a hit and run. {{more: continue …}}

These reports and others were in addition to on-going investigations. These do not include calls where no report was written. Some of the offenses, after further investigation, may have been deemed unfounded.

9/10 – Vehicle Burglary – Industrial Drive: At 10:39 p.m. a business owner reported that two vehicles on his lot had been burglarized. Three suspects can be seen on video breaking out the windows on a 1994 Chevrolet Blazer and a 1996 Chevrolet Silverado. An electronic amplifier was taken from one of the vehicles.

9/10 – Assault Bodily Injury (Family Violence) – Peachtree Court: At 10:16 p.m. officers responded to a domestic disturbance. A juvenile male had assaulted his mother when she tried to discipline him for misconduct. The juvenile was detained and transported to the Juvenile Justice Center on an assault charge.

9/11 – Dangerous Dog – Danny Drive: At 6:49 p.m. officers responded to a report of a dangerous dog. An adult female victim reported that she was approached by an aggressive dog belonging to a neighbor. The dog scratched the victim on the arm, causing her to bleed. A juvenile female took the dog and placed it in a neighboring home where it belonged. A relative of the dog?s owner was contacted and notified that quarantine would be necessary.

9/12 – Theft $100 to $750 – Derby Drive: At 7:22 a.m. a victim reported that person(s) unknown removed the rear lug nuts on his 2016 Chevrolet truck wheels. The victim attempted to drive the vehicle to work, causing damage to the wheels and hubs. The front wheels still had one lug nut each, keeping the front wheels secured. It is believed that the lugs were removed in an attempt to steal the custom factory wheels.

9/13 – Assault by Threat – Corry A. Edwards Drive: At 11:30 a.m. a school resource officer was notified of a problem with a student. A juvenile male suspect was refusing to be disciplined for using a racial slur toward another student. The suspect refused to go to In-School Suspension and threatened a faculty member who was attempting to control him. The student was escorted out of the school when his mother arrived. The student was released by the officer in the parking lot and he left with his mother. The assault charge will be filed with the Municipal Court.

9/15 – Possession Control Substance – W. Kennedale Parkway: At 2:43 a.m. an officer observed a suspicious vehicle at a business. The vehicle was parked with both driver side doors open and a male asleep in the back seat. The officer had difficulty awakening the male and observed a narcotics pipe at his feet. The pipe contained what appeared to be methamphetamine residue. The male finally woke up and was handcuffed. The male admitted to using methamphetamine. A zip-lock bag of the drug was also found inside the vehicle. A field test was positive for methamphetamine. The male, who also had outstanding arrest warrants from multiple police agencies, was transported to jail for booking. The drugs and paraphernalia were entered into evidence.

9/15 – Incident – Municipal Drive: At 6:14 p.m. an officer met with a juvenile male who was refusing to go to his biological father?s house for visitation. The juvenile was fearful for his safety and articulated several reasons to substantiate this belief. The juvenile?s mother was contacted and took him home. The juvenile?s grandmother also contacted police to report the male as missing. She was informed of the location of the juvenile. The officer contacted a school resource officer who was familiar with the family and stated that there was an active Child Protective Services investigation on the family situation. The officer?s report will be forwarded to CPS for inclusion in their report.

9/16 – Hit and Run Accident – W. Kennedale Parkway: At 11:58 p.m. a victim reported that a Chevrolet Avalanche backed into her vehicle while in a parking lot. The Avalanche contained four males and the victim did obtain a license plate number. The vehicle drove away on Kennedale Parkway.

9/16 – Driving While Intoxicated – S. Dick Price Road: At 4:09 a.m. an officer stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver, an adult male, appeared to be intoxicated. The driver stated that he had been smoking marijuana earlier. The driver was unable to successfully complete a field sobriety assessment. He was arrested and transported to jail for a blood draw and booking.

9/16 – Driver License/ ID False – E. Kennedale Parkway: At 3:26 p.m. an officer stopped a vehicle for an expired registration and a possible warrant. The driver handed the officer Texas driver?s license that appeared to be fraudulent. The driver admitted that a friend made the license for him. The driver was arrested and transported to jail for booking.
