The

Kennedale Police Department reported the following incidents for the first week of January. These reports were in addition to on-going investigations.

These do not include calls where no report was written. Some of the offenses,

Incident Reports
 
1/2 – Driving While Intoxicated – 1200 block of Kennedale Sublett Road: At 1:30 a.m. officers responded to a major accident. The driver was reported to be unconscious. On arrival a female driver was discovered to be passed out behind the wheel. Officers were able to awaken her to get her out of the vehicle. After paramedics cleared her as uninjured the driver was administered a field sobriety assessment, which she was unable to successfully complete. She was arrested for DWI and agreed to give a blood sample. She was transported to jail for booking as well as the blood draw.
 
1/2 – Application for Mental Detention and Observation – At 4:37 a.m. officers responded to a domestic disturbance. A 55 year old female reported that her 37 year old daughter, who suffers from mental disorders, had become upset earlier. When the mother tried to calm the daughter, the daughter struck the mother. The daughter was taken into custody and transported to JPS Hospital for an emergency detention and evaluation.

1/2 – Death Investigation – 1200 block of Kennedale Sublett Road: At 9:00 a.m. officers responded to a death investigation. A 74 year old male was found deceased in bed. The victim had a number of medical issues for which he took medications. No evidence of foul play was observed and the family physician confirmed that he would certify the death as natural.

1/2 – Assault by Contact – Mansfield Cardinal Road: At 7:21 p.m. officers responded to a domestic disturbance. A husband and wife were arguing when the husband became physical by grabbing the wife and spitting on her. As officers were attempting to escort the husband to the patrol unit for transport to jail, he began to resist. At one point one of the officers received a cut on the hand from the handcuffs. After being place in the patrol car the husband was transported to jail for booking. He was charged with the assault by contact and resisting arrest or transport.

1/3 – Missing Person (Juvenile) – Pennsylvania Avenue: At 7:24 p.m. an officer received a report of a runaway 16 year old male. The male?s adoptive father stated that his son had been given permission on December 30th to spend time at his biological mother?s home. Instead he left with friends and has not been seen since.

1/3 – Abandoned Vehicle – S. New Hope Road: At 8:08 p.m. an officer discovered an abandoned school bus in the traffic lane. Durham School Services could not be contacted for a disposition so the bus was impounded for safekeeping.

1/4 ? Theft – $2,500 to $30,000 – 6300 block of Tealcove Drive: An officer received a report of stolen wheels and tires from a 2014 GMC truck. The vehicle was parked in an apartment complex parking area where the victim lives. The items were taken overnight and were valued at $3,600.00.

1/7 – Death Investigation – 100 block of Peachtree Court: At 4:59 a.m. officers responded to a report of an infant not breathing. The unresponsive one month old male was found by his parents. Officers administered CPR until the arrival of paramedics. He was transported to Mansfield Methodist Hospital but the medical staff was unable to revive the baby.

1/7 – Assault by Contact – 1200 block of W. Kennedale Parkway: At 12:00 a.m. officers were dispatched to a disturbance involving a male in a vehicle following a female pedestrian. On arrival of the first officer the female and male were outside of the vehicle. The female struck the male in the head as the officer exited his vehicle. Both were detained until other officers arrived. The female was cited for the assault and obtained a ride from a friend.
