KPD Update: Police find vehicle identified in murder investigation

Kennedale Police Chief Tommy Williams has issued the following statement in the on-going murder investigation at approximately 8 p.m. tonight.

  • The medical examiner has officially identified our victim as Carl Wilson, age 18.
  • Based on an anonymous tip through the Arlington Police Department, investigators were able to locate a black Lincoln SUV believed to have been seen leaving the scene of the shooting. Investigators have a tentative identification of the driver, who has not been located. The driver is believed to have ties to an Arlington gang.
  • There is no indication that the victim had any gang ties. Investigators have seized the vehicle for evidence processing.
  • The vigil originally scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at 6300 Treepointe Drive was moved to Martin High School by faculty. After the Martin High School event a few persons gathered at the Treepointe location to place flowers and other items at a temporary memorial. The numbers have been small and no traffic issues were experienced. Officers from Kennedale and Arlington remain at the scene as a precaution.”
