At 5:26 p.m. officers from the Kennedale PoliceDepartment
were dispatched to a report of a shooting in the 1000 block of Belmont Drive. Officers were met by a resident of the location who stated that he was called by a family member about a shooting at the home. {{more:read more …}}The officers used the resident?s key to make entry to the home and discovered a 46 year old male and a 47 year old female, believed to be husband and wife, deceased. A firearm was found at the scene with no forced entry observed.Based on evidence, investigators believe that the husband shot and killed his wife before turning the weapon on himself. A note referring to a marital issue was found at the scene and appeared to be written by the husband.
The Medical Examiner?s Office has tentatively identified the deceased male as James Short. The deceased female is believed to be Mr. Short?s wife, Amy Short. Positive identifications will be made later today. The investigation is on-going as more evidence is processed.Follow @ KPD
