Fifty teams were entered in the Northwest ISD Volleyball Classic this past week, the most ever in tournament history. The Kennedale Lady Kats entered in the tournament, their second in as many weeks, taking third place in the Gold Consolation bracket. {{more}}
 

Teams came from around the state and included 4A, 5A and 6A teams. 6A Hebron won the overall championship.

 
On Day One in pool play, Kennedale had a rough start, losing three matches in two to 5A Mansfield Lake Ridge, 6A Hebron and 5A Northwest.
 
Kennedale came back to sweep the Day Two pool play winning over 5A Azle, 5A Mansfield Timberview and 5A Victoria West.
 
Kennedale qualified for the top consolation bracket (Gold) on the final day of play and went 2-1 for the day beating 6A Northwest Byron Nelson, dropping one to 6A Plano East and taking third place by winning in two over 6A Denton Ryan.

Day 3 Consolidation Gold Bracket (2-1)
  • (W) Byron Nelson 13-25, 25-21, 25-18
  • (L) Plano East 25-16, 25-17
  • (W) Denton Ryan 25-16, 25-19
The Lady Kats will play @ Lake Worth Tuesday night with the varsity playing at 6p.m. The Kats will enter their third tournament of the young season later this week in Argyle beginning Thursday.
