Kats take 1st game vs Snyder 8-4

Despite a first bat solo homerun in the top of the first, the Snyder Lady Tigers (27-11) failed to get enough run production against the streaking Kennedale Lady Kats (20-16-1) to challenge in their 8-4 loss. {{more:[read more]}}
 
For the Lady Kats it has been more of the same clutch pitching, fielding and opportunistic base running. Kennedale has not lost a game in any of their best of three series since the playoffs started in late April.
 
For Snyder, this is their first lost in sixteen games, dating back to a lost to Lubbock Coronado on March 15.
 
Elizabeth Schiele (Sr) racked up three RBIs on two doubles for Kennedale. Megan Calhoun (Fr) helped herself on the mound by getting a double scoring 2 runs. Alexi Neifert (Jr) had the hot bat with 3 hits, getting an RBI and scoring a run herself. Ashley McElvany (Jr) had an RBI while scoring a run. Also getting hits for Kennedale were Jamie Franks (Jr), Mary Grace Howard (So) and Alyssa Bradberry (So).
 
Megan Calhoun got the win for the Kats. She allowed four runs over seven innings. Calhoun struck out five, walked one and gave up eight hits. She threw 74 strikes in 113 pitches for .655 average and got 15 ground-outs.
 
Chloee James (Sr) was the game’s losing pitcher. She allowed eight runs in six innings, walked two and struck out one. She had 57 strikes in 57 throws for a .648 average and got 15 ground-fly outs.
 

Game two starts at 1pm in Henrietta. Kennedale has not lost a series after winning game one in at least five years. Directions
