Kennedale Lady Kats finished 4th in State

The Kennedale Lady Kats wrapped up another season of track and field with a 4th place finish in Austin at the UIL Division 4A meet. {{more:[read more]}}
 
Kennedale finished with 29 points behind 1st place Sour Lake Harding-Jefferson 48 pts, Dallas Carter 42 pts and Dallas Hampton Prep 32 pts.
 
strength of running events …
 
As in past year it has been on the strength of the running events especially the relay teams. This year the Kats had two teams to qualify (4X100 and 4×200) and both were made up of Sarah Drummond (12th), Julia Mosley (11th), Lucy Benson (11th) and Alexis Brown (9th).
 
The 4×200 meter relay team finished in 2nd winning the silver with a time 1:48.18. The winning time was put in by Sour Lake Hardin-Jefferson at 1:40.38.
 
In the 3X100 meter relay the Lady Kats finished 3rd with the time of 47.22. Dallas Carter won the event with a time of 46.23. Kennedale holds the 4A record in the state meet set in 2013 with the team of Toni O?Neal, Hailey Patterson, De?Andrea Powell and Chianne Lowe.
 
In the 100 Meter Dash, Drummond finished in 9th place with a time of 12.59 Winning the event was Sha?Carri Richardson (10th) from Dallas Carter with a time of 11.58
 
In the 200 Meter Dash, Alexis Brown finish 6th with a time of 24.90. Winning first was Raegan Padgett (12th) from Sour Lake HS at 23.41.
 
no strangers to Austin …
 
The Lady Kats are no strangers to Austin winning a state title in 2005 and in the last eight years they have finished in the top 10 six times and in the top 4 three out of the last 4 years. Julia Mosely has been the last three years and won a goal medal running in the 4×200 as a ninth grader in 2014.
 
This year the Kats finished in 2nd place at district, area and region track meets.
