The Lady Kats move on to the next level in the UIL state softball playoffs, with a resounding defeat of Iowa Park Saturday afternoon at Bowie High School, beating Iowa Park 14-0. Kennedale will play Andrews High School in a best of three regional semi-final series beginning with a 6:30 pm game Friday night at Clyde High School. Game two will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Clyde with game 3 following if needed. {{more}}

Saturday, at Bowie High School in the second game of a best of three regional quarterfinal game against Iowa Park, the Lady Kats had their way. ?In the first inning Kennedale gave a preview of things to come when they score 3 runs on a single (Allie Turner) and a double (Cheyenne Trotter) along with two errors, a walk and a hit batter. ?Iowa Park without their injured ace pitcher was not able to effectively stop the Lady Kats.

The Lady Kats amped it up in the 2nd inning by scoring 7 runs with six walks, a single by AllieTurner and a triple by Aubrey Wooden. Things were quiet until the top of the 5th when the Kats scored 4 more runs with a single by Elizabeth Schiele and a blockbuster of a homerun by Jazyln Crowder that scored three and then a double by Ciara Trotter and a single by Aubrey Wooden.

Iowa Park was unable to score in the bottom of the 5th and the game was called at 14-0.

Kennedale Lady Kats? Kaitlyn Leeds kept Iowa Park off the scoreboard for all five innings she was on the hill. She pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on three hits while ringing up four.
