Kennedale Library sponsors Gingerbread House competition

The Kennedale Library will host a Gingerbread House design competition for the upcoming holiday season. It is divided into three levels with children ages 6-12, teens ages 13-17 and adults. {{more:Read more …}}
 
The date set for the children and youth division is Saturday, December 3 and for the adults, Saturday December 10. It is open to individual artist or teams at all levels of competitions. Pre-registration is required. The registration deadline is Wednesday, November 23
 
Requirements and specifications
 
Children 10am to noon Dec 3
  • The Kennedale

    Public Library will provide all the materials needed to construct a ?graham cracker? gingerbread house but parents are encouraged to bring additional edible embellishments to share with all.

  • Children must be accompanied by parent.
  • Once finished the house maybe taken home or left for display in the Library during the week of December 3-9.
Teens 1:00pm to 5pm Dec 3
  • The library will provide candy, hot cocoa and popcorn.
  • Participants will need to provide a sturdy base (plywood is suggested) that does not exceed 24?x24?
  • Kits are allowed but the use of homemade gingerbread for creativity is encouraged.
  • Additional edible embellishments may be brought by contestants.
  • Everything used to in the construction must be edible aside from the base board.
  • A list of materials used must be provided with the finished creation along with the title of your creation with names(s) of participant(s).
  • Each entry will be evaluated based on overall appearance, difficulty, creativity and techniques.
  • Once finished the house maybe taken home or left for display in the Library during the week of December 3-9.
 
Adults: Build at home …
  • Entrys should be brought to the Kennedale Library on Saturday, December 10, 10am to noon.
  • All houses must be placed on a plywood board base not exceeding 24?x24?.
  • Everything used in the construction must be edible aside from the base board.
  • A list of materials used must be provided with the finished creation.
  • Completed entries must the title of your creation with names(s) of participant(s).
  • Each entry will be evaluated based on overall appearance, difficulty, creativity and techniques.
  • The houses will be displayed at the Kennedale Library during the week of December 10-16.
