?I wanted to get this out to let everyone know that we are continuing to pursue leads in the death investigation at 6300 Treepointe Drive. Investigators have several leads from witnesses that are promising and are continuing with their interviews today. I can tell you that:
  • We do not have a suspect in custody. As you all are aware, social media has been flooded with much information and misinformation. We continue to receive information and tips about possible suspect(s) and/or witnesses.
  • While we believe that this shooting is the result of an earlier altercation of some sort at a local high school, we have not been able to determine that the shooter is or was a student at the same school or is a friend of an involved person. The victim was a student at Martin High School.
  • We are still interviewing witnesses to this incident. Whether these turn out to be actual witnesses or a suspect we won?t know until we interview them.
  • We are attempting to locate the vehicle(s) involved in this incident. We have reliable leads we are looking into.
  • We have information that a vigil is planned this evening. The police department will have a heightened presence to allow the participants to grieve in peace and to prevent any further acts of violence.
Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Kennedale Police Department at 817.985.2160 x. 2229. Leave a message and an investigator will call you back as soon as possible.? Chief Tommy Williams, Kennedale Police Department

In other developments, the following announcement by Principal Marlene Roddy was made to all students, faculty and staff this morning at Arlington Martin High School.

“Students and staff, I am extremely sad to tell you

today that we lost one of your classmates and our students yesterday, Carl

Wilson. Carl Wilson was a senior at Martin High School and was a member of the

Martin football team. Carl was a good, kind person who had dreams to continue

playing football in college. Carl’s life was cut short in a shooting that

occurred in Kennedale yesterday afternoon after school. This senseless tragedy

is under investigation by the police. Please observe the next few moments in

silence as we remember Carl Wilson.”

A vigil is still scheduled this evening at 5:30 p.m. in the 6300 block of Treepoint. Traffic maybe congested in the area for a short period of time.
