The City of Kennedale recently started advertising this month for the position of city manager. The City will be accepting applications until February 10. The response has been good according to sources at City Hall. {{more:Read more …}}
 
Kennedale is an attractive opportunity for those in the field with its location in the metroplex and its reputation. The salary is listed as negotiable depending on the individual’s background and qualifications but is said to be in the low 100,000’s with a car allowance.
 
City governance awards include the TML Municipal Excellence Award in Management Innovations (2010, 2012); GFOA Certificate of Achieve Comment for Excellence in Financial Reporting (2002-15); TCMA City Council of the Year (2011); APATX Comprehensive Planning Award (2013); Scenic City Award (2013-18); Keep Texas Beautiful Govenor’s Acheivement Award (2014); Tree City USA (2011-16); and TPCA Best Practices Re-Recognition for the Police Department (2016).
 
According to a profile developed by the city, the city employs 74 staff members including police, fire/emergency medical service, municipal court, library, administrative services, parks, water and wastewater, streets, community development, code enforcement, utility billing and animal control.
 
The budget for 2016-17 (October 1 – September 30) is 16.5 million (8.4 million in the General Fund). The property tax rate is $0.76500.
 
Position description …

The City Manager is the chief administrative officer and is

accountable for the enforcement of laws and ordinances, the appointment and

supervision of executive directors and department heads, and the daily

management and direction of performance within the organization – with support

from a ten-member management team. This

role oversees the development and implementation of the annual budget, oversees

economic development and, depending on qualifications, may act as Executive

Director of the Economic Development Corporation (EDC), as well as represents

Kennedale within the Southeast Tarrant Transportation Partnership (SETTP). The successful candidate should have broad

experience in all areas of municipal operations in a community that is

comparable (or greater)in size and complexity to the City of Kennedale.
