Kennedale appoints James Brown as new Fire Chief

Last week, Kennedale City Manager George Campbell announced the appointment of James Brown as Fire Chief for the City of Kennedale. He currently serves as Battalion Chief for the Training Division of the North Richland Hills Fire-Rescue Department. {{more: continue …}}

Brown will fill the position left vacant in May of 2018 by the retirement of Chief Mike McMurray.?

With more than thirty years? experience, Brown began his Fire Service career with the City of North Richland Hills in 1987, where he has progressed through the ranks with duties including fire operations, personnel selection, administration, and training. He holds numerous certifications including Fire Service Chief Executive Officer, Master Fire Investigator, and Licensed Paramedic.
?
?Chief Brown has a comprehensive understanding of local government, fire operations, and management as well as a demonstrated record of achievement from both an educational and practical experience perspective,? Campbell said. ?His broad background and skills will complement the excellent credentials of the Kennedale Fire Department employees and staff and the City?s Leadership Team.?

Brown earned his Bachelor?s Degree in Emergency Management Administration from West Texas A&M University. He is a member of the Texas Fire Chiefs Association and has been the North East Fire Department Association?s Hazardous Materials Team Coordinator since 2000.

Brown said. ?I look forward to building upon the foundation of professionalism and dedication to preserving the safety ? of both the community and their fellow firefighters ? that is evident in this department.?

Brown is expected to begin his employment in Kennedale the first week of December.
