On another wet Friday night, the Kennedale Wildcats (5-2, 3-0) shutout their 3rd district opponent in as many games when they defeated Lake Worth 49-0. Lake Worth fell to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in District 6-4A. {{more: continue …}}

Kennedale in the last three weeks is 152-0 after the win of Lake Worth this week and earlier wins over Castleberry 64-0 and Western Hills 49-0. In the Lake Worth game played before a soaked homecoming crowd, the Cats shut down a good offensive team, tossing the Frogs into negative yardage with a cumulative -50 yardsv at game’s end.

Meanwhile the Wildcats collected 335 yards, going 3-8 for 82 in passing yards and rushing for 253 yards on 38 attempts. The Cats could have rolled up more yards but the Cats defense along with some strong punt and kick-off returns gave the offense the short end of the field almost every series. Kennedale started deep in Lake Worth territory on 6 of 9 possessions including the LW-24, LW-23, LW-43, LW-32, LW-33 and LW-46. Kennedale scored on each of those possessions.

Lake Worth did get into Kennedale territory once reaching the KN-46 before having to punt on a 4th and 17 at the LW-46.

Kennedale, quarterback Evan Jowers (Sr) had a combined total of 153 yards along

with 2 TDS with 82 passing and 71 yards rushing. Marlete Joyner (So) had 55 yards and

a TD. Antwone Parker (Sr) picked up 44 yards and 3 TDs along with a 55 yard kick-off

return. Donovan Rubin (Sr) collected 39 yards and another TD. In receiving, Spencer Roof (Jr) had one TD reception for 58

yards. Carrington Roblow (Sr) caught one for 16 yards and Jaden Smith (Sr) snatched

another pass for 8 yards. On special teams JD Coffey (So) had a couple of quality

punt returns, one for 16 and another for 39 yards.

Senior running back DJ Kirven, who is recovering from an injury he received during the Springtown game four weeks ago, is still out and is not expected to play tonight.
