Kennedale rolls over Crowley 56-20

Crowley – It was not supposed to be this easy. Kennedale (4A) and Crowley (5A) have opened the season the last three years with each game featuring a down to the wire finish – except this one.

Kennedale scored on their first drive and never looked back. {{more}}Twenty-eight points in the first half and twenty-eight in the second. It was an offensive show by the Wildcats who thundered down the field for 448 total yards on their way to scoring 56 point while limiting the Eagles to 233 yards and 20 points.

The Wildcats rushing attack led the way with 377 yards on the night. Senior Juwan Washington’s star shone bright as he rushed 24 times for 255 yards and 4 touchdowns. The San Diego State commit compiled 186 yards by halftime. Senior Ronald Hayes added 30 yards on 20 carries to the Kennedale effort.

The Wildcats running game was directed by quarterback Jake Michener who also rushed for a 24 yards touchdown and passed for another. He was 2-4 for the night with 71 passing yards Cody Gillespie led the Wildcat receivers with 39 yards and 1 touchdown.

In the third quarter romp, the Wildcats scored two quick rushing touchdowns but the highlight was the 56 yard kick-off return by Derrick Williams.

 

Kennedale will play next in their longest road trip of the year against Gainesville High School at Gainesville. Game time 7:30 p.m.
