Gainesville on offense managed only 79 total yards. The D-Cats limited the Leopards to 39 yards on the ground and 40 yards by air and forced five fumbles and recovered three. Gainesville quarterback Hunter Turberville was sacked multiple times giving him a negative 65 yards. Not to say the offense was idle. Kennedale picked up 455 yards at 13.21 yard per attempt. Quardraiz Wadley carried for 230 yards and three touchdowns. Jaden Knowles for Kennedale rushed for another 144 yards and three touchdowns. Rounding out the scoring for Kennedale was Darren Hull with 2 touchdowns and 18 yards.
It was not a clean win as the varsity lost focus with a number of penalties (6) and four fumbles, losing three with one on a punt that set up the Gainesville lone touchdown early in the third quarter.
Kennedale plays the Dunbar Wildcats (1-0) next week, Friday, September 11 at Clark Field in Fort Worth beginning at 7:30 p.m.
