As anyone driving by the new Kroger store on Sublett Road and US 287 within the last week, knows, the projected date for a grand opening on June 29 is not happening. {{more:? continue …}}

On-site store management confirms the postponement, citing in part the incomplete road work in front of the store.? The City of Arlington was adamant that the operation of the store not add to congestion on Sublett and US 287.??

While the construction has slowed traffic to a trickle at times, it is easy to see that with at least 4 access points along with separate turn lanes to go along with a 4 lane divided road in front of the store traffic should moving smoothly.? Both Albertsons shopping center and the new Kroger development will be easier to access.? ?

There has been a real push this past week to complete the roadwork but not enough to get a stamp of approval from Arlington.?

A spokesperson for the store told the Kennedale News that management wanted to open as soon as possible but they hesitated to give a definite date. There was some indication that they were trying for a time shortly after the July 4th week.?

A look through the doors, finds finishing touches being made with non-perishable items lining the shelves while dairy, meat, bread and fresh fruit shelves remain empty.

Work on surrounding stores in the center such as Starbucks and Chick-fil-a will not delay the opening.?
