LOCAL COMMUNITY PULLS TOGETHER TO RAISE FUNDS FOR SCHOLARSHIPS

KENNEDALE, Texas?As part of the fifth annual Art in the Park Festival, the City of Kennedale, Kennedale Chamber of Commerce, Kennedale Arts and Culture Foundation, and the Kennedale Independent School District hosted a silent auction to raise money for high school students looking to pursue education and possibly a career in the arts. {{more}}

?This event is all about helping local youth pursue their dreams. It shows them that our community stands behind them and appreciates their talent,? says Bob Hart, chair of the Art and the Park festival committee. ?We all worked together to accomplish our goal?supporting students.?

The fun night, sponsored by EECU, featured an exhibition of 89 pieces of art by both students and practicing local artists. With an attendance close to 100 people, funds raised totaled almost $1,500.

The fundraising goal for this year?s scholarships is $2,000. Art in the Park?s next fundraiser will be on Sun., Mar. 9, at 2 PM at Painting with a Twist in Arlington, TX.
