LadyKats basketball await playoff opponent, Wildcats have big week & both are ranked in top 25

Both the Kennedale Wildcat and the Lady Kat baskketball teams are ranked in the top 25 in the latest Texas Association of Baskeball Coaches’ poll. {{more: continue …}}

The Wildcat debut last week at #23 in the weekly 4A TABC poll and then moved up to #22 this week. The Lady Kat, after sweeping the district last week entered this week at #23 on the girls side of Class 4A. Both teams have a bye tonight.?

The Lady Kats ended their regular season with a 68-50 win over Benbrook and capped their 4th straight undefeated district season. Their current record is 48-0 in district play.? Kennedale finished the season at 22-13, 12-0.

  • Kennedale 12-0, Benbrook 9-2, Lake Worth 7-4, Castleberry 5-6, Western Hills 4-7, Dunbar 2-9, Diamond Hill-Jarvis 0-11.
The top four teams in each district earn playoffs spots. The only teams on the bubble in District 8/4A are Castleberry and Western Hills. Castleberry plays Benbrook tonight while Western Hills plays Diamond Hill. A tie for the fourth spot would require a one game playoff. The Lady Kats have a bye tonight in the final round of district games.

Last week the Wildcat moved into a tie with Dunbar with an 84-74 overtime win and then eliminated any claim Benbrook might have made on the district title in a 68-53 victory on Friday.

Kennedale has a bye tonight before taking on Castleberry on Friday. To have any chance of making the playoffs this season, with just two game remaining, the River Oaks team would have to defeat Benbrook tonight and Kennedale on Friday night.

With two games left, Kennedale is 23-8 overall and 9-1 in district play.?

As it stands now, the four teams from District 8/4A would be Kennedale, Dunbar, Benbrook and Western Hills. Kennedale will play Western Hills next Tuesday for Senior Night at home. If Kennedale and Dunbar remain tied at the end of the regular season, there would be a one game playoff to determine first and second seed.
