The Kennedale Lady Kats lost last week to the Glen Rose Tigers to end their playoff run in the third round quarterfinals of the state basketball tournament.? {{more: continue …}}?The Lady Kats in a rebuilding year finished strong, sweeping district and going 3 deep into the playoffs ending with a record of 21-17, 12-0. In the process they continued the program?s tradition of winning. The accomplishments included:
- going undefeated in district play for the 2nd year in a row making it 5 times out of the last 7 seasons;
- extending the Kats playoff streak to 17; and
- winning their 15th straight bi-district title and making Kennedale a region quarterfinalist for the 9th time in 12 years.
All-District …??This year the Kats not only had their coaches honored as the District 7-4A Coaching Staff of the Year but placed five Lady Kats on the 7-4A teams with one player getting a double nod.????Players honored were:??
- #24 Sydnee Biscoe (Sr) – MVP (1st Team 2017, 1st Team 2016)
- #44 Trinitee Warren (Jr)? Bobby Miller Character Award
- #33 Kalyne Daniels (Jr) ? 1st team (Newcomer of the Year 2017)
- #4 Tawny Smith-Knox (So) ? 1st Team
- #14 Aariyah Cotto (Fr) ? 2nd Team
- #44 Trinitee Warren (Jr) ? 2nd Team
For the Lady Kat coaching staff it was the fourth year in a row for either Coach of the Year or Coaching Staff of the Year.? Head Coach is Doug Watson. Assistant Coaches Tammy Evans and MacKenzie McLellan.
