In preparation for Literacy Night at RFP, 4th grade students were encouraged to read and write poems experimenting with all forms such as cinquains, limericks, diamantes, formula poems as well as free-verse. Students were able to express their emotions and ideas in a more creative way instead of the usual essay style of writing.

In the Challenge Lab for Math, students were learning about basic coding in computer science. Computer science teaches logic, problem solving and creativity. The students used paired programming to collaborate and solve tasks using block code.

In 4th grade math the students were are having ?fraction fun? in learning the relationship between and improper fraction and mixed number. The students used fraction cubes as visuals to help see how fractions are equivalent and to show a comparison. The students also learn how to relate fractions to a decimal value and order them on a number line by playing the Human Number Line Race. Other manipulatives such as money, fraction pies, clock faces, and egg cartons were used so that students could see how fractions can be used in a variety of ways in the real world.
