The Kennedale High School Lady Kats have made it through the first round of District 7-4A play unscathed, going 6-0. Last Friday Kennedale defeated the Lake Worth Lady Bullfrogs 64-18 to complete the sweep.??{{more: continue …}}

Currently, the Lady Kats are 13-16, 6-0 overall and will begin the second round of district games tonight at Springtown with the varsity set to play at 6:30 p.m.

  • Kennedale began district play against the Springtown Lady Porcupines back before Christmas on December 12. Springtown, the visiting team, was down 24-5 after first quarter and was never a force in the game. At the half, the score was 44-12 before the game ended at 72-37.?
  • Two Kats combined for 44 points: Kalyne Daniels?(Jr) finished with 24 points, followed by Sydnee Biscoe?Sr) with 20. Other Lady Kats scoring were Tawny Smith-Knox (So) 9, Marcarrkhalia “Mac” Briscoe?(So) 7,?Aariyah Cotto?(Fr) 5, Mylo Austin?(Sr) 3, Taija Jackson?(Sr) 2 and Trinitee Warren?(Jr) with 2.

Benbrook – Dec 16 (W 70-51)

  • The Benbrook Lady Bobcats proved to be a stronger opponent than Springtown when the Lady Kats visited on December 16 still the Kats led 23-16 after one and continued to outscore the Benbrook in the 2nd quarter to take a 14 point lead into the half at 41-27. Benbrook fought back in the 3rd to outscore Kennedale by one but could never catch up on the scoreboard, losing 70-51.?
  • Kennedale had three players scoring in the teens with Sydnee Biscoe leading all sorcers at 18 followed by Kalyne Daniels 17, Tawny Smith-Knox 15, Aariyah Cotto 9, Mylo Austin 8, Trinitee Warren 2 and Mac Briscoe 1.
Mineral Wells – Dec 19 (W 88-79)?
  • Kennedale played their strongest challenger on December 19 at home in Kennedale. The Lady Rams, sporting the best overall record of district teams at 16-11, was undefeated in district play headed into the game with Kennedale. For the first time in district play the Lady Kats were behind after one quarter of play 22-18 and still behind at halftime 43-38. Kennedale made up the five points in the 3rd quarter by outscoring Mineral Wells 25-20 to tie the game at 63 and then went on a run in the 4th to take the game 88-79
  • Adison Lister (Sr) from Mineral Wells led all scorers with a blistering 32 points. For Kennedale, both Sydnee Biscoe and Kalyne Daniels tied with most points at 23, followed by Trinitee Warren with 16, Tawny Smith-Knox 14, Mac Brown 7 and Aariyah Cotto with 5.

Castleberry – Jan 2 (W 64-24)?

  • The Lady Kats travelled to River Oaks to take on the Castleberry Lady Lions and got an easy victory, allowing the Lions to score only 7 point in the first half and finishing the game at 64-24 win.?
  • Kalyne Daniels dropped in 24 to lead all scorers followed by Tawny Smith-Knox with 13, Sydnee Biscoe 10, Trinitee Warren 6, Chyan Saffore?(Jr) 4, and 2 each from Mylo Austin, Mac Briscoe and Taija Jackson (Sr).

Diamond Hill-Jarvis ? Jan 5 (W 97-16)

  • For winless Diamond Hill this game was overwhelming. Kennedale carries only nine to ten player on the varsity squad depending on injuries and grade reports, so even playing everyone and limiting time for the top player this game was over before it began. Diamond Hill struggled to score 9 points in the first half while the Lady Kats tipped in 65. Kennedale did cool their guns in the second half and scored just 32 but the game ended with Kennedale just 3 points shy of 100 at 97.?

  • Again Kennedale put away their opponent early allowing Lake Worth only 13 points in the first half while scoring 43 before taking the game 64-18.?
  • Top score for Kennedale came from Kalyne Daniels with 20 points followed by Tawny Smith Knox 10, Sydnee Biscoe 10, Max Briscoe 7, Trinitee Warren 6 and 2 each from Chyan Saffore, Jacquira Ishmeal, Aariyah Cotto and Taija Jackson.?
