The Kennedale Lady Kats (2-0) have open the new basketball season with their second straight win again over a 5A opponent.
Friday night against Mansfield High School (0-2), the Lady Kats out played the Tigers in every quarter, winning 75-48. {{more}}
Senior Jasmyn Poe led all scorers with 20 points followed Brenee Ellis (Sr) 19, Evie Whorley (So) 12, Kathryn Mosely (So) 6, Payton Williams (So) 5, Lucy Benson (So) 4, Robbie Johnson (Fr) 4, Amanda Davis (So) 3 and Aysia Williams (Sr) 2.
It is too early to draw too much from these wins but it gives the Lady Kats a big boost as they enter their pre-district schedule. The schedule will pit Kennedale against some the best around the metroplex in several tournaments and in individual games.
Coming up on the schedule are 5A teams Burleson Centennial, Granbury and 6A teams Waco Midway, Richland. The Lady Kats have two tournaments where they will face more 5A and 6A teams, the Kennedale Varsity Tournament December 12-14 and the Whataburger Tournament December 29-31.
Another early challenge will be December 19 when the Lady Kats take on Stephenville in Stephenville.
