The Kats wanted to give their fans, their parents, their coaches and themselves a special gift by extending Kennedale’s district win streak and consecutive district titles.

It was a good night as the Kats wrapped it all up in a 84-37 win over Benbrook High School. With the win Kennedale moved to 12-0 in district play and 20-13 overall. Benbrook (10-3, 17-13) along with Dunbar (9-3, 16-15) fell three games behind Kennedale in district standings with both finishing in a tie for 2nd place. Lake Worth took fourth place at 6-6 and 14-17. Last week, Dunbar and Benbrook met with Benbrook coming away with the 2nd seed in the district for the playoffs. Dunbar became the 3rd seed followed by 4th seed Lake Worth.

This week the Kats start their 18 straight UIL playoff championship run with a game on Monday night at home against Uplift North Hills Prep. Uplift North Hills is a public, college preparatory charter school located in Irving/Las Colinas area. They play in District 10/4A and were the 4th seed out of the district. See UIL 4A Region 2&4 Girls Baskeball Playoff Bracket. Game time is 6 pm at Kennedale High School, Monday.

Benbrook game summary …?
  • Kennedale won every quarter ? Q1 14-10, Q2 23-17, Q3 21-8 and Q4 26-2 = 84-37 final score.
  • Q1 ? Benbrook on the strength of an 8-1 run, took an early lead. Kennedale did not it let stand and refused Benbook all but 2 points while scoring 13, taking the lead for good just before 1st quarter ended.
  • Q2 ? Kennedale continued to increase their lead throughout the quarter with Benbrook getting as close as 5 points but couldn?t match Kennedale in scoring or on the boards. At the end of the quarter Kennedale led by ten at 37-27.
  • Q3 ? The third began Kennedale?s complete dominance of the game. Just before the end of the period, Kennedale had push the lead to 23 points 56-33.
  • Q4 The final quarter was all Kennedale as Benbrook could only score 2 points as the Kats scored the most points of any quarter 26 as they went on to win by 47 points.
  • Kennedale forced Benbrook into 35 turnovers, had 26 steals to 6, recorded 20 deflections vs 6, recorded 29 point off of turnovers, averaged over a point per possessions, average 44% shooting 3 pointers.
  • Points made: Kalyne Daniels returned to the lineup to score 25 points leading all scorers for the game. Tawny Smith-Knox scored 18 points followed by Macarkhalia Briscoe 11 pts, Sanieya Anderson 10 pts, Trinitee Warren 9 pts, Martin Kelsey 5 pts, Chyan Saffore 2 pts, Jacquira Ishmea?l2 pts, and Daijia Pugh with 1.
