This day, September 18, one year ago, a new restaurant opened its doors in Kennedale. The business, Louisiana Catfish, has survived to celebrate its first birthday.

Celebration begins on Saturday with cake and ice cream and plate specials.

Cynthia McKnight is the owner and runs the restaurant along with her son. {{more}}Her family has been in the restaurant business for some time, operating a Louisiana Catfish in Grand Prairie for over 7 years.

Louisiana Catfish is located at 324 West Kennedale Parkway in Kennedale across from the P&P Mart and Tire Plus.

In an interview last year with the Kennedale News, McKnight explained why she picked Kennedale. After being told about a building for sale on Kennedale Parkway, ?I came out here and looked at it and saw that it was a pretty good building, a pretty good location and it seemed like a small town and [I liked that] because I am from a real small town,” said McKnight.

Louisiana Catfish has seemed to have found a niche and has built a loyal following. And, with their new sign out front, they plan on staying.

This Saturday, the restaurant will celebrate with cake and ice cream from 2p.m to 5 p.m. and all day feature specials for 6.95 on special shrimp baskets, pork chop (1) plate, fillet (1) plate and more. Hours on Saturday are from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
