TARRANT COUNTY — A man who ran from Kennedale police was fatally struck by an 18-wheeler Thursday afternoon.

A Tarrant County deputy constable spotted the man at a gas station just off Interstate 20 and thought it looked like a suspect Kennedale police wanted to bring {{more}}in on outstanding warrants. The constable questioned the man, then contacted Kennedale police.

When Kennedale police pulled into the parking lot, the man ran away on foot.

Forest Hill police say the man was struck by a tractor trailer rig in the 5300 block of SE Loop 820. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Eastbound I-20 near Loop 820 was narrowed to one lane after the man was struck, and traffic backed up for miles as motorists waited for the scene to be cleared.

Forest Hill police detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.
