On a Facebook post, Kennedale native, Laura Sanders said, ?We always had Miss Kennedale pageants as far back as the late 60’s and throughout the 70’s at [the high] school. But the difference is, this one is all about scholarships and moving on to the Miss Texas Pageant!! How cool is that??

The Miss Texas Outstanding Teen Pageant is a little sister program to the Miss Texas and Miss America Scholarship Organizations. The Miss Texas Outstanding Teen Pageant has been organized to encourage positive achievement by helping to nurture and build the scholastic achievement, creative accomplishment, healthy living and community involvement of our nation?s youth. This competition is intended to encourage and reward the talent, communication skills, community service, and academic achievement of girls between 13 and 17 years of age. The Miss America Organization is the leading provider of scholarships for young women in the world, ages 17-24. Each year, the organization makes available more than $40 million in cash and tuition scholarship assistance. The competition includes Lifestyle and Fitness, Presence and Poise; Peer Respect and Leadership; Artistic Expression; and Top Five Knowledge and Understanding competitions.
