Total enrollment on the 3rd day of school was 3096 students. Last year it was 3143 students.

This year?s kindergarten class is smaller than last year?s by 63 students at 186 students but the kindergarten class from last added a few more students to increase to 250 1st grade students. The same was true of the 1st grade class last year which added five students to come in at 245 second grade students. Last year?s 2nd and 3rd classes dropped a few students over the summer. This pattern was repeated from grade level to grade level.
  • Kennedale High was the only campus to show an overall increase, has reached an enrollment of 990 students which represents an increase of 22 students
  • James F Delaney Elementary reported 733 students, down 32 students.
  • Robert F. Patterson Elementary reported 434 students, down 5 students
  • James A Arthur Intermediate reported 451 students, down 26 students
  • Kennedale Junior High School reported 488 students, down 6 students
For several years now the enrollment has been fairly stable in the KISD with some increases balanced by some decreases.

For individual campuses especially with only two grades as in the junior high and the intermediate school changes in enrollment are most often a result of the size of the incoming class compared to the outgoing class. As happened with James Arthur which had a smaller 4th grade class move up just as a larger 6th grade class graduated.

Overall enrollment figures tend to peak several weeks after the beginning of school. New figures will be available after the next school board meeting on September 18.
