William was baptized in the Central Baptist Church of Mansfield. He spent a great deal of his time pursuing his passion for riding bulls at the Cowbell and later in Kennedale. He spent time working with his hands to make a living most recently at Ogburn Brakes, giving the company 12 years of service. His family remembers him as a warm friendly man, who was always busy pittling around to keep himself occupied. William liked being outside and tinkering with yard work.
He is preceded in death by his parents, T.J & Sarah Burgess; brothers, Larry Lynn Burgess and Jerold Wayne Burgess and his wife Peggy; and Great Aunt Violet Gerth.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Margie Nell Burgess; sons, Tommy Burgess and wife Angela, Allen Lee Burgess and wife Elva and Christopher Wade Burgess; daughters, Karen Burgess, Marilyn Grimes and husband Anthony, twenty one grandchildren, seven great grand children, and numerous extended family and many friends.
